The first modular town for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ternopil community was opened in the village Malashivtsi, which was arranged on the initiative and in close cooperation with Czech partners - the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Ukraine and the Czech government.
The newly equipped modular town was inspected by the Mayor Serhii Nadal together with the Deputy Consul General of the Czech Republic in Lviv Vladimir Kadlec, who recently visited our city.
“We will offer the equipped modular town for accommodation to IDPs who come to us from other settlements. For this purpose, in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, a queue of people in need of better housing conditions is being formed”, said S. Nadal. “We are sincerely grateful for the help of our Czech partners, in particular, the Consul General of the Czech Republic and the Czech government, who agreed to help and implement the construction of these houses and transfer them to our city.
The city council has fulfilled its obligations, including landscaping, building entrances, benches, trash bins, lighting, water supply and sewage systems. Additionally, generators were purchased to operate in the town in case of a power outage and to provide people with electricity.
According to Vladimir Kadlec, Deputy Consul General of the Czech Republic in Lviv, the initiative was launched in September. The modular houses were designed and manufactured using European technologies by a Czech company. The houses have everything necessary for temporary accommodation of IDPs.
“The Czech government initiated this project to help Ukrainian internally displaced persons. There are three modular houses at this location. Each hous has four rooms that can accommodate two people. Two houses have a bath and shower, the other has a kitchen and a place to wash and dry clothes”, said Kadlets.
In September this year the city council and Czech Republic representatives signed a memorandum aimed at helping internally displaced persons who were forced to leave their homes because of war.
