The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal visited the modernized boiler house in Ternopil

On November 16, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal paid a working visit to Ternopil.

As part of the visit, the Prime Minister got acquainted with the reconstruction of the modernized boiler house of Ternopilmiskteplocomunenergo at Lesia Ukrainka Street.

“The boiler house produces and supplies heat energy to more than a hundred apartment buildings, as well as schools, kindergartens and hospitals. The reconstruction made it possible to reduce the consumption of natural gas by 6% and electricity by 34% per month in production of a unit of heat energy compared to last year and to reduce the impact of the cost of these energy carriers on the value of the tariff for heat production”, said Denys Shmyhal.

The boiler house was modernized as part of the project “Modernization of the heat supply system in Ternopil” with the financial support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

According to Ternopil Mayor Serhii Nadal, the goal of such a large-scale project is, first of all, to ensure round-the-clock hot water supply throughout Ternopil, improve the quality of heat supply and reduce costs for both residents and the local budget.

“In order to significantly reduce heat losses, the project provides for transition from a four-pipe heating system to a two-pipe system, and old and worn-out heating networks are replaced with insulated ones made using modern technologies, which have a service life of about 50 years. The cost of the network replacement alone has reached more than 1.7 million euros, and this is currently the largest amount of investment in the city’s heat supply industry over the past 60 years”, adds Serhii Nadal. – “About 1 km of old pipes were renewed, and all old boiler equipment, pipelines and boilers were dismantled at the boiler house, and three modern high-efficiency and energy-saving gas boilers manufactured by Viessmann with a total capacity of 30 MW were installed instead. Frequency converters, control, alarm and dispatch systems were also installed”.

The Mayor explains that thanks to the high-tech pumping equipment and frequency control, it is now possible to regulate the amount of heat according to its need, which, in turn, helps to significantly save on electricity, and thanks to the European-made burners installed on the new boilers, it is possible to reduce natural gas consumption.
